Myths of Indian Democracy
"Government of the people, for the people and by the people."
Which people-- Percentage vote polled 40%...
No party wins with majority.. an allied government is formed..UPA..NDA
The government veils extreme power, can even change the basic charter of the constitution and even the power to curb judicial wings.
Facts
1. Indira Gandhi claimed Emergency...
2.During emergency laws were made to put things (like Indira Gandhi's intentions) out of judicial purview.
3. Laws are being made to divide country into seperate castes..(indirectly)
All these things happen because the premises of this democracy is itself faltered...
Myth 1: An individual acts as an individual...
Myth 2:An individual is well informed...(ask people about NREGA and you will come to know)
Myth 3: An individual always votes for the common good of the society..(thats why so many parties try to woo by caste based politics)..
Myth 4: THE GOVERNMENT ALWAYS THINKS OF THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE...
Is an alternate form of government possible..IF NOT..
1.Are we ready to really vote for the common good of the country...
2. Are we ready to educate one and all about all issues affecting our country...
3.Are we really ready to root out politics based on caste, religon and region...
4. Above all are we ready to make India awake to life and freedom
Till then..I want to ponder over alternate forms of government...
But words of Pandi Nehru still pierce my heart.....
"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity."
